Life is too Short

Paul Tsongas once said, "No one on his deathbed ever said 'I wish I spent more time at the office'" and with that in mind, yesterday, my son stayed home (not too concerned about that, straight A student and in gifted classes) and I ducked out of work for a “Life is too Short” day. Lunch at Ruby Tuesday, a trip to the book store games and whatever else we wanted to do, the day was ours.

I took the opportunity to do up this pen and ink drawing of my boy munching on some chips.

Life is too short.

When my son was little, I would do that every so often with him. He is now 18 and remembers our times together fondly. You can never get enough of THOSE kind of memories. I love your drawing of your boy.
Thanks for coming by my site & leaving a comment. I have yet to get a post from the "release" of one of my cards but I have all year! Thanks again.

I used to love those days with my mom. I remember all of them and I'm sure your son will too. And that's a great drawing, Zombie.

Thanks Mel, I was pretty happey with the picture (even though it's not an exact likeness...the little one is cuter).

I can remember my parents doing the same Arbriel...I guess old habits die hard :D. I'm surprised you haven't recieved any posts from the recievers. Don't give up, I'm sure someone will...I know I would. Thanks for visiting Arbriel and thanks for the compliment.

With any luck Chelene, he'll continue the tradition with his children. I'm sure I'll be doing the same thing with my daughter as well. Thanks much!

You're such a great dad. Other parents could take a lesson from you.

Thanks Mel, if I'm able to convince my kids of that when they're teenagers I'll be doing all right.

I think that you've established a great relationship already, which is so important, and being active in their lives....just keeping the lines of communication open once they hit puberty can be a BIG challenge...but that's one I'm sure you will be up for dude :)

Hi, hopped over from Mel's place.
You're quite right, life's too short and that was a great picture.
I love going to Ruby Tuesdays with my parents, I wish they had them here in Canada.

Thanks Allison. We had the best spicy chicken at Ruby's(the servers can never believe that the boy loves the really spicey stuff) .

Time only speeds up as we get older too.

Appreciate you stopping by!

The Wifey's family has a name for such a day; incapuncus day. I've treid to search the origin, but even The Internets has it's secrets.

Sounds like a great time.

Thanks JACC had a great time. Incapuncus day...I like that. Maybe we'll come up with a better name than "Life is too Short", like...Festivus. Wait, is that taken?

You are a wise, wise Zombie. That is why I am going to take an hour off work tomorrow to pick up my kids early to go hollow weening with them.

That is so cool. Your son will treasure that picture one day...definitely needs immediate framing. Good job!

Thanks Deb, problem is that I'm usually not satisfied with my art and end up tossing them.

Appreciate it Angel, I draw and paint as much as my schedule allows...which is usually seldom. I have other art pieces on the blog as well, I'll try and dig them up.
