Fishing

One of Just a Cool Cat's post reminded me of something I haven't done in a long time. My grandfather and my father loved fishing. Growing up out in Colorado, we used to travel all over the west (usually in Colorado or Montana) throwing our lines in. Some of the best memories I have of my grandfather were doing nothing more than hanging out with our rods proped up on rocks.

I did this pastel on rough board close to a year ago.

That is a great pastel. That's where I learned to fish too, my great granfather and grandfather. Though I didn't fish on vacation, I did think about it a lot. I thought about where I'd cast, how I'd cast, what I'd use for bait etc.

I do the same thing when hiking with my boy...looking for overgrown areas and deep pools. I've been thinking I need to get my boy a pole and indoctrinate him.

For a while I was even tying my own flies.

Add me to the list of people who thought it was a photo. It's gorgeous, Zombie.

I went fishing once. With my dad when I was very little. The only thing I remember is that he poured water on the ground to get the worms to come up so we could bait the hooks. I felt bad for tricking those worms. :)

Thanks Chelene...much appreciated. Don't feel so bad for the worms...feel bad for the fish tricked into thinking they just got a snack :)
